Homeowner's Program A state Homeowner’s program is available for property owners who were 65 or older or totally disabled on or before December 31, 2011. To qualify you must be a full-time resident with an adjusted gross income of no more than $32,300 if unmarried and $39,500 if married including Social Security. For the Local benefit your income must be $16,000 or under not including Social Security. Applications must be received back by May 15th, 2012. Renter’s Program Applications are being accepted for the Renter’s Program for the Elderly and Totally Disabled. In order to qualify for this program you must be 65 or older, a surviving spouse, or Totally Disabled and your income must be $32,300 or under if single or $39,500 or under if married. Certification of Blindness Certification of blindness must be obtained from the State of Connecticut Department of Human Resources, Board of Education, or Services for the Blind. This certificate must be filed with the Assessor by October 1, 2012. It is only necessary to file once for this benefit. This program is not based on your income. Total Disability If you are Totally Disabled you may qualify for $1,000 off your assessment. Forms must be filed only once by October 1, 2012. This benefit is not income driven. |
